For over half a decade, the Chipman team has collaborated with Senior Lifestyle Corporation on properties throughout the United States. While the concepts are always unique and specific per project, the team tends to reference classic vintage details in a nod to the community’s locale for Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care and Skilled Nursing Facilities. One special project was Wellspring Memory Care, located in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Wellspring, nestled within the lush Evergreen campus, was built around a 19th-century Greek Revival mansion –– formerly a vineyard in the mid-1800's. The campus's rich history lends a warm and historical feel to the design of Wellspring. Intricate patterns, historical colors, and regional artwork reinforced the refined, cultural design.
This expansive property included an underutilized, existing atrium which the Chipman was tasked with developing into a functional space that could be used more efficiently by guests or residents. The team removed the existing pink tile flooring and 1980's faux skylight and incorporated warm lighting, rich colors, textures and wood flooring to create a welcoming place to be together. The team was thoughtful with using color and textures to define a more dynamic arrival experience versus a more soothing aesthetic inside the Memory Care.
This project was only the first phase that kicked off a multi-year, multi-phased renovation of the Wellspring community. This one aspect of the plans ultimately laid the foundation of design that would be carried around the rest of the campus.
