Chipman Design Architecture has supported Senior Lifestyle Corporation across multiple projects, developing senior living environments that respond to the specific needs of each community while maintaining a consistent design approach. The work spans independent living, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing, with each project tailored to its location and resident population while referencing timeless architectural details.
CDA’s work often involves reimagining existing spaces to better support resident experience and day-to-day use. In one renovation, the team transformed a portion of the main building into two distinct social environments, creating a more active and welcoming destination within the community while working within a defined budget and accelerated schedule.
The design approach focused on improving functionality while enhancing comfort and accessibility. Layout adjustments increased seating capacity and introduced more flexible gathering areas, while careful kitchen planning supported new dining experiences with minimal intervention and strategic reuse of existing equipment. Circulation was also refined to better connect adjacent spaces, creating a clearer and more intuitive flow for residents.
Material selections and furnishings were chosen to create warmth while addressing durability and maintenance, with details scaled appropriately for senior use and ADA considerations. Layered lighting, updated finishes and curated artwork, including references to local history, help reinforce a sense of familiarity and connection within the space.
