Ulta Beauty’s corporate headquarters in Bolingbrook required a different kind of thinking than the retail program, with the scale and phasing driving many of the design decisions from the outset. Chipman Design Architecture was brought in to lead both architecture and interiors, guiding a multi-phase effort that has continued over several years.
The work has been less about a single project and more about managing continuity across phases, with construction carefully sequenced to keep portions of the building operational at all times. That required close coordination with consultants and the construction team, aligning schedule, scope and day-to-day functionality so the headquarters could continue to support the business without interruption.
As the program evolved, each phase built on the last, expanding usable space while refining how teams work within it. Over time, the project has grown to more than 250,000 square feet, with the design adapting alongside the organization rather than being imposed all at once.
