Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, founded by Jeni Britton Bauer, has become a defining voice in the artisan ice cream movement, known for its craft-driven approach and strong sense of place. CDA’s work focuses on adapting the brand across a range of site conditions, from compact urban storefronts to smaller format structures, where efficiency and experience need to work seamlessly together. Each layout is developed to balance back-of-house performance with a clear and engaging customer experience, ensuring even the most constrained footprints feel open and intentional.
A key aspect of the design is how each store engages the senses. Spatial planning, equipment placement and material selection are intentionally coordinated to highlight the product and reinforce the brand’s character. Elements such as waffle cone production, layered color palettes and custom graphics create an atmosphere that feels approachable and immersive without becoming overly designed.
