Faherty
Lake Forest, IL and Chicago, IL
Faherty has worked with Chipman Design Architecture across multiple retail projects nationwide, collaborating to bring the brand’s relaxed, coastal-inspired identity into a range of environments while adapting to local context and existing conditions. This ongoing work reflects a shared focus on balancing brand consistency with thoughtful, site-specific design.
CDA’s work with Faherty includes the renovation and adaptive reuse of historic retail spaces, where preserving character while improving performance and accessibility is central to the design approach. In projects such as the Market Square location, Chipman Design Architecture executed a careful retail renovation within a National Register landmark, maintaining original architectural elements while integrating a fully accessible entry and modern code-compliant features.
In Chicago’s Lincoln Park, CDA transformed a historic wood-framed structure into a two-level retail environment, introducing strategic upgrades to support accessibility, circulation and long-term durability while maintaining the building’s residential scale and charm. Across both projects, and others within the portfolio, collaboration with Faherty’s internal team has focused on refining historic finishes, layering in natural materials and aligning each space with the brand’s distinct aesthetic.
The design approach results in retail environments that bring together adaptive reuse and contemporary design, creating spaces that feel specific to their setting while fully supporting the Faherty brand.
